Stephen Kearley

President & CEO

Steve Kearley began his insurance career in 1985, joining Bruce Benson Insurance Brokers as a producer.

Focused on growing Benson Kearley IFG and creating one of the premier financial services operations in Canada, Steve purchased the brokerage from Bruce Benson in 1991.

In 2004, Steve completed the “Birthing of Giants”, a three year entrepreneurial program at M.I.T. in Boston, and continues with the Alumni program each year.

In addition to his work at BKIFG, Steve has embraced active leadership roles in many organizations.

In 1995, he co-founded “Hockey Helps the Homeless” with 5 other businessmen, and to date they have raised over $5,000,000 for homeless initiatives across Canada.

For the past 10 years, Steve has also served in various leadership capacities with the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO), completing a 3 year term on the Global Board of Directors.

He spent two years as the head for EO’s Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) for Canadian applicants, an opportunity for university students who have started a business to compete on the world stage.

Steve was honoured as “2012 Entrepreneur of the Year” at the Business Excellence Awards presented by the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce.

Douglas Bundock

Chief Operating Officer

Doug Bundock has been in the insurance industry for over 40 years, although vowing to stay no more than two when he first joined his father’s Insurance Brokerage.

Now a seasoned Insurance Professional, Doug joined the BKIFG team in 2017.

His real passion for commercial insurance stems from the relationships he is able to build with his clients.

His favourite role is to mentor the younger generation of insurance brokers, as he finds just as much pleasure in seeing those coming up through the ranks succeed as he does in his own success.

As Chief Operating Officer, Doug also looks after the Private Client Group within BKIFG. Doug has received his professional designation as CRM (Canadian Risk Management).

Michelle Cowell

Senior Investment Advisor

With over 25 years working experience in the financial sector. Michelle is a senior investment advisor with Mandeville Private Client. Contributing anthor for current trends and issues in financial planning. Michelle sits on the board of the “Canadian Institute of Financial Planning”.

Lynn Rumble

Accounts Controller

Lynn has worked in the accounting field for the past 28 years.  She started her career working as an accounting clerk for a publisher and distributor of children’s books, and for the past 18 years has worked for Benson Kearley IFG, overseeing all aspects of the accounting department.  She assists management in interpreting and utilizing managerial accounting information.  Lynn enjoys the problem solving aspect of her work and is always looking for ways to improve the bottom line.

Lynn also oversees the IT department, focusing on staying up to date on current technology and how it can improve efficiencies and production in the office.

Jeff Paterson

Commercial Lines Sales Manager

Jeff brings over 25 years of insurance industry experience to the table.

He has worked on the insurance company and independent broker sides of the business, and is proficient in both personal and commercial lines of coverage.

Since he joined BKIFG in 2002, Jeff’s success can be attributed to his ‘customer first’ approach in all transactions.

He listens to what his clients want and need, and consistently delivers results with professionalism and integrity.

Jeff’s character embodies the corporate mission statement, “It’s all about our customer.”

Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree from York University and remains committed to lifelong learning.

In order to further develop his industry expertise, he consistently surpasses the minimum annual educational modules required by insurance brokers.

A key contributor to BKIFG’s niche Plastics Protect program, Jeff is also working towards his Plastics Technician Accreditation.
